Clear Channel Outdoor Recycles ECO•Poster Materials, Converts Poster Inventory to Polyethylene Single Sheets

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. (Phoenix) is expanding its commitment to environmental responsibility. Having converted nearly all of its poster inventory to accommodate single-sheet, polyethylene ECO•Posters, Clear Channel Outdoor is recycling nearly 100% of ECO•Poster materials upon completion of campaigns.
ECO•Posters are created with polyethylene, the most commonly-recycled plastic. ECO•Posters maintain their visible integrity 90 days, compared to 30 days with the previous posters. The previous 30-sheet posters contributed roughly 150 million lbs. annually to the nation s landfills. Other ECO•Posters’ benefits include:
• No flagging or peeling with these single-sheet executions.
• No more glue and paper. The new posters attach directly to the structure.
• Visual quality is comparable to vinyl executions.
• They are unaffected by weather.

Paul Meyer, president and CEO, Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, said, “Since May of this year, Clear Channel Outdoor has recycled more than 260,000 lbs. of ECO•Poster material and anticipates that over 400,000 lbs. will be recycled by year’s end.”
ECO•Posters can deliver visual integrity while also being fully recyclable, the company reports. Clear Channel Outdoor currently has a contract with Avangard Innovative to recycle its ECO•Posters into various products, including railroad ties. In addition to poster inventory, the company is currently working toward converting its entire bulletin inventory to accommodate recyclable ECO•Flex material and will be recycling them in the same fashion as its ECO•Poster program.
