Ideal.com (Rockville, MD) is offering its Ideal/Contex Magnum XL 54-in. color scanner. The product can scan color images up to 54 in. wide and 0.6 in. thick. It uses TX technology, for enhanced scan speed and image quality, for high-impact monochrome and color scanning, for scan-to-print and scan-to-Web applications. The scanner features on-board, real-time color correction and 2-D filters for color sharpening, softening and blur. Color is captured at 42 bits, and the best 24 bits of color data are passed on to the computer.

The scanner supports FireWire and SCSI, and uses a 3C maintenance system to keep cameras aligned, adjusted and calibrated. The product is compatible with Ideal’s scanning, indexing, editing and Online PlanRoom products, which allows users to archive, search, view, sell and print large-format drawings on a password-protected Internet site.
