True Tales

Customers Ask Sign Company to Make Them Look Prettier, Skinnier, Hairier

Ready (or Not) to Shine

I designed a magnetic sign for an attractive young realtor a few years back. She loved the layout and provided the picture we used, but when we sent her the proofs, she kept saying that her head looked stretched. We never could make her understand that it wasn’t, but she insisted her head was stretched. Another young realtor asked for photo retouching. Her request was, “Can you make me look not quite so shiny or sweaty?” An older realtor wore a shiny sequined jacket for her “corporate” headshot. Her request was, “Can you make my jacket look not quite so shiny?” Many older realtors have asked that we Photoshop their flabby chin away, make their teeth whiter … one bald guy even asked for us to give him hair. Seriously, people? — Yvette Bryars, Sign Designs Now, Kingwood, TX
