Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD) has installed four, outdoor, LED video-display marquees at Boston’s City Performing Arts Center’s Wang and Shubert Theatres.
The theatres previously operated changeable-copy displays to advertise their upcoming performances, which allowed them to promote only one show at a time. Now, the LED display can promote each scheduled performance months in advance.
Two 10 x 15-ft. Daktronics LED displays are placed outside the Wang Theatre, while the two other, 6 x 8-ft. LED video displays are placed above the Shubert’s façade. Both LED video displays advertise upcoming shows with pre-recorded video content along with performance times and dates. LED video displays operate with Daktronics’ versatile Venus® 7000 controller and V-Link® video processor.
The Citi Performing Arts Center consists of two theatres, the Wang Theatre and the Shubert Theatre, both of which are neighbors on Tremont St. in Boston’s Theatre District.
Recently, a private event was held at the Wang Theatre, where a photographer snapped photos of guests in the Wang’s lobby. Following the event, those photos were fed onto the display, surprising many as they viewed themselves on the display.
The Citi Center also has five LCD plasma screens in and around the box office.
