Durst Introduces Digital Printer Upgrades

Durst Image Technology U.S., LLC, (Rochester, NY) introduces its Rho 1000 Continuous Inkjet Production System, plus the Rho 500R Superwide roll-to-roll UV inkjet printer, and the Rho 800HS large-format, UV-cure, Inkjet Printer. The printers feature Durst’s Quadro® 30D Array print head technology and improved configurations and workflow systems.

Each of the three printers incorporate Durst’s Quadro® 30D Array printhead technology (which doubles previous model’s nozzles-per-color count to 2,048), ink temperature regulation and proprietary point drop setting ink controls. Combined, Durst says, these upgrades deliver exceptional, high-speed image quality.

The 600-dpi, industrial-grade, Rho 1000, intended for a high-production environment, automatically transports and prints on sheet, rigid and roll media. The CMYK ink set options include white, light cyan, light magenta and spot colors. Also, the printer requires minimum set-up time and operates in a continuous-feed workflow that eliminates load/unload delays between sheets. Suited for integration into screen and offset printing workflow systems, it’s capable of printing more than 200, 4 x 8-ft. sheets or boards per hour.

The Rho 500R prints six-color, 600-dpi images on vinyl, mesh and other superwide roll media at speeds up to 4,300 sq. ft./hr. Further, it can simultaneously print three, independent images from three separate job queues on media from an equal number of 1.6-meter rolls.

The 500R machine features high-performance, carriage and linear motor-drive systems, precision transport mechanisms, a proven front-to-back registration system, on-board, laser, media-tracking sensors.

The Rho 800HS is a high-speed version of Durst’s Rho 800 Presto Large-Format UV-cure Inkjet Printer. It comprises the continuous, board-print system employed in Durst’s Rho 800 Presto and can print on multiple boards (up to 2.75 in. thick) across its 98-in. print width. The printer’s top speed exceeds 2,000 sq. ft./hr. In its two-pass, production mode, Durst says it delivers exceptional image quality at nearly 1,200 sq. ft./hr. For long runs, the 800HS accepts Durst’s roll feed and take-up accessory.
