The debut of the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision College Football Playoff Championship required bold onsite signage to enhance its visual impact and generate excitement. To accomplish a gameday atmosphere reflected of the championship-game hype, which pitted the Univ. of Oregon Ducks against the Ohio St. Univ. Buckeyes, the Etzel Agency (Portland, OR), which the College Football Playoff Group hired to produce the Championship Tailgate event. In turn, Etzel enlisted GoVision LP to integrate a series of LED displays for onsite installation in parking lots adjacent to AT & T Stadium in metro Dallas.
The system, which was showcased at an event headlined by a concert by the Zac Brown Band, features a 19 x 33-ft. GoBigger mobile-LED unit that resides next to the main stage, as well as an 18 x 40.ft-, 10mm-pixel, carbon-fiber LED screen behind it. To create an experiential atmosphere, GoVision situated three, 10 x 10-ft. screens with 10mm LED tiles that’s constructed as a tower for conveying social-media posts. Additionally, the provider installed two, 6 x 11-ft., 5mm-pixel screens and 10, 80-in.-diameter, LED monitors inside ESPN’s VIP tent within the tailgating area, and an additional 10, 80-in. monitors at the Championship Grill inside the AT & T Stadium.
"We’ve taken out screens to virtually every major sporting event in the country, but there’s something truly special about being a part of the very first College Football Championship," Brady Haass, GoVision’s client-services VP, said. "We feed off the challenge of performing on the biggest stages when everything has to go perfectly the first time."
