Fluid Color Partners With ColorByte on Pedestal AI

Fluid Color (Hebron, KY) in collaboration with ColorByte Software (Lutz, FL) has introduced ImagePrint UV with Pedestal AI, an advanced RIP platform designed to bring AI-driven 2.5D printing and precise tactile production to UV flatbed workflows, according to a press release.

Pedestal AI analyzes standard artwork and automatically generates height maps and texture data directly within the RIP environment. The technology converts flat graphics into layered ink structures, enabling operators to produce dimensional textures and raised print effects without complex file preparation or manual channel building. In addition, it includes production tools that support fully compliant ADA tactile signage. Using controlled UV ink stacking, the RIP manages raised characters, braille dots, and tactile symbols directly in the print process.

“Pedestal AI changes how dimensional and tactile UV printing can be approached,” John Pannozzo, president of ColorByte Software, is quoted in the release. “Working with Fluid Color systems allows us to control height, spacing and ink layering directly in the RIP using AI, giving operators the ability to produce textured graphics and ADA-compliant tactile elements with consistent, repeatable results.”

For accessibility applications, ImagePrint UV supports production aligned with ADA signage requirements, including:

  • Raised character heights of 0.031–0.037 inches through controlled ink stacking.
  • Domed braille dots built to ADA and Grade 2 braille spacing standards.
  • Precise tactile layout positioning for characters, pictograms and braille translation.
  • Repeatable ink layering for durable tactile readability.

The RIP supports common file formats including TIFF, JPG, PSD, PNG, PDF and SVG, automatically managing spot channels and ink builds while maintaining production-level print speeds. Applications include ADA signage, dimensional décor, textured graphics, art reproduction and specialty printed products. Integrated cut-path generation also allows seamless finishing with laser, drag-knife and tabletop cutting systems. ImagePrint UV with Pedestal AI is fully supported on Fluid Color UV flatbed printing systems.
