Fujifilm Dimatix, Inc. (Lebanon, NH) is releasing its Samba™ micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) printheads that comprise 2,048 individually addressable nozzles that produce 2.4 to 13.2 pL ink drops at 1,200-dpi native resolution (600 dpi in redundant mode). The Samba VersaDrop™ jetting technology allows multiple, fixed-drop sizes in binary mode, and greyscale capability, with no loss in productivity. The printheads feature continuous, behind-the-nozzle ink recirculation and an innovative nozzle-plate design, and they jet various fluids, including UV-cure and aqueous inks. Fujifilm says the Samba scalability is key because the 1-in.-wide, single-head print width allows assimilation into any-width print bars, which favors single-pass, print-machine applications for commercial printing, labels, packaging and textile-imaging devices.
