GableSigns (Baltimore), a full-service, sign-fabrication shop, is announcing the launch of SignGuru, reportedly the first official sign-industry reference application, or app, designed for mobile communication devices. Developed by the INOV8 team, a subgroup of innovation-minded Gable employees, SignGuru’s first version, which is fully functional on Apple’s iPhone, iTouch and iPad, features a “technical toolbox” which features a color-combination guide, distance viewing chart, cross-references of common sign and material finishes, basic illumination standards and a comprehensive sign dictionary, among other functions. The Society for Environmental Graphic Designers bestowed its Best New Product at its annual conference, which took place June 2-5 in Washington, D.C. The app may be downloaded free from the iTunes store or from www.sign-guru.com.
