Gerber’s Solara ionZ

Gerber Scientific Products, (South Windsor, CT) has announced its Solara ionZ™, a new edition to Gerber’s line of cold-fire, UV-cure, cationic ink, flatbed printers. The ionZ features eight printheads with a 14 picoliter drop size, which is significantly smaller than that of its predecessor, the 42 pl ionX, but with the same 720 x 720-dpi resolution. The finer detail provides higher image quality, but at the same speeds.

The Solara ionZ employs the Gerber ion family print technology, including Gerber’s low-energy, Cold Fire Cure™ system, which operates at nearly room temperature. The low temperature operation allows you to print on such heat-sensitive materials as paper-based products, thin styrene and corrugated plastic.

The company said its GerberCAT™ cationic UV-cure inks’ unique chemical bonding process gives a high degree of UV-cure ink performance.
