HP Scitex has released its FB700 flatbed printer that images UV-cure ink on almost any rigid or flexible media and can load, print and collect up to six sheets of media simultaneously. Options include the HP Scitex FB700 roll-to-roll upgrade kit and a white-ink, upgrade kit for specialty applications. The piezo-inkjet printer features an automatic, media-feed-bar system which, on demand, progressively advances (up to six) flat-media boards.
The FB700 will print up to 1,200 x 600 -dpi, in six colors, on materials up to 2.5 in. thick and up to 98.4 in. wide by 120 in. long. Print speeds range up to 861 sq. ft./hr.
HP Scitex said the printer is designed to produce durable outdoor and indoor applications, including point-of-purchase displays, tradeshow graphics, interior decorations, banners and furniture.
The roll-to-roll option supports flexible media up to 98.4 in. wide. It handles 23 in. diameter rolls weighing up to 180 lbs.
An automated service station eliminates the need for daily maintenance and three-liter ink cartridges (two-liter on white) minimize interruptions. A HP White Ink Homogenizer maintains white-ink stability; and an onboard camera detects and adjusts for misfiring nozzles.
The dual, shuttered, UV lamps comprise three power levels and shutter-aperture controls and, for safety, HP enclosed the FB700’s UV lamp/print area. Other advanced features include an onboard camera, an HP Embedded Web Server and a solid-media, feed system.
