Black Box Corp. (Lawrence, PA), a provider of voice communications, data infrastructure and product solutions, has deployed its iCompel digital-signage system at the Fremont Memorial Hospital in Fremont, OH. The communications platform welcomes visitors and promotes the facility’s healthcare services.
The sytem supports the hospital’s new messaging system, which includes 52-in. signage in its recently renovated lobby, as well as an information channel on its cable distribution system. Through this channel, the hospital broadcasts menus, bulletins and other time-sensitive information to patients and staff.
ICompel can play multiple zones within a single screen, supports instant messaging and live feeds, and can be controlled via a network connection from a central location. The integrated hardware/software appliance simplifies assembling and distributing video, audio, and web content to one or multiple screens. Professionally designed layouts and user-friendly, drag-and-drop tools customize layouts and schedule content deployment.
Convergentech and Muzak (Toledo, OH) installed the system. The company saw a demonstration of the product at the InfoComm 2009 exhibition in Orlando and, in turn, recommended it to Fremont Memorial Hospital.
The system is suitable for healthcare applications, whether in a standalone doctor’s office, clinic or community hospital, or in a facility network within a region-wide health system. The web-manageable system can be maintained by public-relations staff and other administrators. The appliance’s built-in web server can be installed on a network, assigned an IP address and managed, via a password-protected browser interface, from a remote workstation. Medical staff in the hospital can be paged instantly.
