Irish Signs and Murals Smile on Same-Sex Marriage

A taboo subject just a generation, the push toward legalizing same-sex marriage continues to gain steam across the globe. Nowhere is this more evident than in Ireland, an historically conservative, Catholic nation. On May 22, Irish voters will decide whether or not to adopt a referendum that would legalize same-sex marriage.

Activists on both sides have takent to the streets to advocate for their cause, and pro-referendum forces have furthered their case with vibrantly colored signage. Here are some examples from a mashable.com article. For the entire gallery, click here.

Incidentally, anti-referendum campaingers acknowledged the need for signs, and put up posters that showed young parents kissing their child over the message, "Vote No". However, the "No" contingent got into hot water when the couple, whose photograph was reportedly uploaded to a stock-photography website, came forward (albeit anonymously) to reveal their support of the same-sex-marriage referendum.
