Kett Tool Shears for Metal
Kett Tool (Cincinnati) is offering its KD-442 variable-speed scissor shears, which provide reportedly double-cutting action that delivers straight cuts in cold-rolled (C.R.) mild steel and stainless steel without burring or buckling the original material or the finished piece.
The company says the double-cutting action transfers any distortion produced in cutting to a waste strip, and leaves behind material edges that aren’t rough or burred, to allow maximum use of sheet material and control costs. The 5-lb. shears are portable, but also designed for location usage and daily shop operations.
They use a 5-amp pistol grip, a 2,500 RPM, variable-speed electric motor that cuts C.R. mild steel up to 16 gauge, most grades of stainless to 18 gauge, sheetmetal, spiral pipe, metal doors and metal studs, at speeds up to 170 in. per minute. They can cut a radius as small as 7 in. All shear heads are made in the U.S. and feature A2 tool steel blades for prolonged durability.
