LED Porsche Sign Fetches $40,000 at Auction

An illuminated Porsche dealership sign recently sold at auction for nearly $40,000, or more than $5700 per letter.

The LED sign is comprised of seven individual letters and measures 14 ft. wide by 1 ft. tall, according to the description at online auction site Bring a Trailer. It was acquired by the seller in 2021 and listed with no reserve.

The purchase elicited numerous wide-eyed reactions from commenters who debated the originality and true value of the sign.

“I get things. I don’t get this,” caferacer59 said.

“I’m gonna go into the illuminated sign making business after watching this lunacy,” JMS935 remarked.

Thankfully, the buyer had the good sense to avoid an unwinnable squabble. “Not debating with the internet,” Sstewart wrote.

The single-sided letters are individually illuminated, and each is constructed of a silver-finished metal case capped by a red plastic face.

See the listing at Bring a Trailer.
