The American Sign Museum (ASM, Cincinnati) will host the 50th anniversary of the Letterheads, June 20-22. Signs of the Times will be one of 10 vendors on site, and will cover this sold-out event for a photo gallery and report next week.
The Letterheads are a group of sign artists who, in the mid-1970’s, rediscovered and made efforts to preserve and pass down many classic designs and techniques of signmaking from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Signs of the Times, then under the editorship of ASM founder Tod Swormstedt, was instrumental in reporting on and aiding the growth of the Letterheads.
About 450 individuals are participating, including presenters, vendors, committee members and volunteers. Some 21 workshops are scheduled over the three days, led by many of the leading figures of the movement. There will also be tents for pinstripers, on-site Walldog projects, a panel jam area, portfolio sharing and more.
The event is sold out but more information is available at letterheads50.com.
