Lightfair Offers Student Outreach Program

LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI) has established the LFI Student Outreach Program to create a path for tomorrow’s leaders:. Now in its third year, the program is designed to stimulate and educate lighting, architecture and engineering students nationwide and internationally.
The 2010 LFI Student Outreach Program at the Las Vegas show this May will offer educational and volunteer opportunities on the tradeshow floor and in the classroom during the LFI Conference and Institutes. Students will be exposed to more than 500 lighting-exhibitor resources and more than 220 hours of lighting-related education.
The program, exclusively offered by LFI, offers the following student benefits:
? The Student Design Competition display (new for 2010). University of Alabama engineering, interior design and art students formed interdisciplinary groups within a new lighting class and defined lighting needs throughout the University campus, creating projects to help make it more efficient. The two winning projects will be displayed in the Lighting Education Lounge at the show.
? Student Portfolio Review (new for 2010). Industry professionals will provide critical input to students’ work for interviews and job hunting.
? Lighting Education Meet and Greet (new for 2010). Students, educators, industry professionals and supporters of lighting education are all invited to meet and mingle in the Lighting Education Lounge.
? Student tours of the LFI Exhibit Hall (new for 2010) are led by industry professionals.
? Free student registration is available for the LFI Exhibit Hall and one free seminar;
? A reduced Student Full Conference Package includes access to eight seminars/symposia, the LFI exhibit hall for all three days and the LFI Innovation Awards.
? 50% off is offered on all other in-depth courses (three-hour workshops, one-day and two-day Institute courses).
? Complimentary new attendee orientation takes place on the opening day of the exhibit hall, May 12.
? Students can volunteer at the LFI Conference in exchange for free courses.

The LFI conference-management team is working closely with schools to ensure another successful turnout of student participants and volunteers in Las Vegas after the popular 2009 outreach program. Contact Elly McCloud, executive director of marketing, conference and attendee relations, at ellym@lightfair.com.
The Daylighting Institute and the Lightfair Institute take place Monday, May 10 – Tuesday, May 11, 2010 and the conference seminars and symposia occur Wednesday, May 12 – Friday, May 14, in conjunction with the tradeshow days.
