Mutoh’s ValueJet 1608HA Hybrid Printer

Mutoh America Inc. (Phoenix) is premiering the ValueJet 1608HA hybrid printer. The flatbed printer prints directly on such materials as corrugated plastics, polystyrene, PVC, acrylic, polycarbonate, foamboard, aluminum composite, banner material and wall coverings. It can print on both rigid and roll-to-roll substrates. Print speeds can reach 120 sq. ft./hr. in production mode using Mutoh’s Intelligent Interweave print technique that minimizes banding. The four-color printer boasts a 1,440-dpi maximum resolution and automatic, media-thickness detection. The printer uses the latest Epson printhead, which provides five, variable dot sizes.
The printer uses Mubio ink, which comprises 80% plant-derived substances and contains no harmful VOCs; it’s available in 880ml ink packs.
The VJ1608HA includes a medical-grade air pump to drive the heated air nozzles; a compressor isn’t needed. The air pump incorporates external filters that help reduce condensation and damage from foreign particles. Hot-air nozzle controllers are integrated into the printer, thus enabling control of the HAN from the RIP or control panel. Air flow and and circulation through the printer cabinet has been improved.
