The American Sign Museum (ASM, Cincinnati) has announced a merger with longtime partner Neonworks (Cincinnati). “Through this merger with one of the only neon shops in the region, ASM can create exciting symmetries showcasing neon and glass bending as an artform and integral part of the sign industry,” according to a press release from ASM.
“While ASM is devoted to the history and preservation of signage, we also have a responsibility to ensure the craft continues into the future,” David Dupee, ASM director, is quoted in the press release. “With the purchase of Neonworks, we can more fully integrate the work they do into our programming, including the development of education programs and hands-on workshops.”
Neonworks, a full-time neon workshop, has been located inside ASM since 2010. Along with creating and repairing neon signs, Neonworks offers demonstrations of glass bending as part of tours given at ASM.
The merger with Neonworks is an example of ASM’s growth in its Camp Washington location, which continues with a 20,000-square-foot expansion set to open on July 13.
