On a Lighter Note…

The exhibit, available for museum patrons through May 7, includes the following marquee objects: the Statue of Liberty's lighthouse lantern lens, which was installed in 1934 and removed in 1986; a lightbulb used in the first U.S. factory that was electrically lighted in 1881; an early-model traffic signal; and crystals from the New Year's Eve ball dropped in Times Square. In addition, the show explores various lighting concepts, including its use in advertising, theater and Big Apple night life.

Designed by Chicken&Egg Public Projects (Long Island City, NY) and Boym Partners Inc. (New York City), the exhibition coincides with the IESNA's 100th anniversary.
