Gerber Scientific Products (South Windsor, CT) is presenting the Solara Ion, a roll-to-roll printer with 64-in. material capacity. It offers up to 1440 dpi and multi-pass printing, and can output 639 sq. ft./hr. at the performance setting; 80 sq. ft./hr. on the ultra-high-quality setting. Available in CMYK, the printer has two printheads per color. It uses GerberCat™ Catatonic UV inks and the patent-pending, low-energy-curing Cold Fire Cure, which cures inks at room temperature. The Solara Ion can print on various materials, including glass, styrene, corrugated plastic, metals and metal composites, ceramics, textiles and backlit material.
