This month’s subject, Damoulis Signs & Designs (Lecheo Korinthias, Greece), certainly stretches the meaning of "the shop next door." However, as was demonstrated with Peter Capriotti’s Makawao, HI-based Creative Design Signs (see ST, November 2004, page 58), materials and methods can differ across bodies of water. Cultural and lingual differences between borders manifest in many endeavors, including signage.

On the flip side, however, founder Periandros Damoulis readily admits that he’s learned a great deal from his American counterparts through the Letterhead movement and others. In August, he’ll assume the herculean undertaking of hosting a Letterhead meet, Greece’s first.
