Permlight for Signs Upgrades El Plato LED Module

Permlight for Signs™ (Tustin, CA) is announcing the upgrade of its flagship 747 Series El Plato LED module for large, illuminated box signs, channel letters and canopies. The series boasts brightness equivalent to high-output fluorescent at about half the power consumption., according to the company.

The company’s entire line of LED sign modules, including the 747 Series, simplifies compliance with California’s Title 22 regulation, which legislates the disposal of any hazardous waste (such as mercury, which is contained in some neon) is illegal. The 747 Series contains no hazardous materials.

El Plato features a large, flat, aluminum heatsink that’s part of the company’s patented thermal-management system. Its large module size allows installation flexibility and optimized brightness. The company says industry testing confirms the product can “punch through” day/night Plexiglas acrylic.

The 747 Series features LEDs, from Nichia, in amber, red, green and blue, and shades of white, from warm “incandescent” white at approximately 2,850 K to cool white at approximately 6,500 K, and in-between shades. The module runs on 12VDC with the company’s series of 60-, 240- and 480W remote power supplies. It also can operate with other Permlight-approved power supplies, which limit output to a maximum 5A and 12.3V per channel.
