Usually, social-service-organization signage has an institutional look, and can be described as downright spartan. Thankfully, some organizations have “angel” donors, and the city of Springfield, MO has been blessed with philanthropists Betty and Bobby Allison, whose support of the Lost & Found grief-counseling center presumably facilitated a sign that reflects its mission to help children who’ve experienced the loss of a parent learn to cope with their grief. The Lost & Found Foundation hired Springfield’s Pinnacle Sign Group (Springfield, MO) to design and fabricate a handsome, freestanding sign.
After having designed the sign using a combination of Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW and AutoCAD software, Pinnacle built the sign with an “exploded” approach to the logo, with H-channel letters and second-surface, push-through acrylic letters. The heart shape comprises routed-aluminum sheet with a steel substructure decorated with 3M translucent vinyl, with edgelighting provided by Principal LED modules. In the sign’s center, a smaller, rotating heart shape within a larger heart, is rotated by a motor.
