Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD) has been chosen to design, manufacture and install a fully integrated scoring and video display system for the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA.
A centerhung scoring system will supply information and video entertainment to every seat in the popular Lafayette venue.
Completed in 1985, the Cajundome hosts various teams and events throughout the year. It’s the home of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajun men’s and women’s basketball teams. The facility also hosts the annual Beta Club state conventions, the annual outdoor Cajun Heartland State Fair, many regional concerts and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) events.
Four, 8-ft.-high x 16-ft.-wide Daktronics LED video displays will highlight the new centerhung system. A smaller, 5 x 7 LED display and an indoor LED scoreboard will also be positioned on each face of the centerhung system. A Daktronics LED video display ring will be installed towards the bottom of the Cajundome’s new digital chandelier, keeping every patron informed and entertained.
The Cajundome will also be receiving four, new, LED basketball scoreboards, complete with 13-in.-tall scoring digits, which will update fans throughout games starting this season. Overall, the new centerhung system will measure approximately 21 x 33 x 33 ft.
Two, 100-ft.-wide Daktronics LED displays that will show statistical information, advertising and crowd entertainment will be installed on the fascias on either side of the Cajundome. Four, 10 x 19-ft. video marquee displays will complete the integrated display system.
Daktronics will also provide the Cajundome with integrated, video-production equipment, including cameras, switchers and playback computers. Keyframe® Creative Services, a video-production division of Daktronics, will be providing a graphics and animation package for the new displays.
