Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA) and TechSoft (Pensacola, FL) have teamed to offer two educational solutions for U.S. and Canadian technical educators. TechSoft offers two education kits; one, the GX-24 focuses on Roland’s signmaking systems, and the other, the MDX-40A address Roland’s 3-D prototyping technology. The kits include written tutorials, 2-D design software, a course booklet and CD guide for instructors.
The GX-24 system is based on Roland’’s GX-24 desktop vinyl cutter, and features optical alignment that preps printed graphics for accurate contour cuts and alignment. The MDX-40A offers CAD/CAM educational opportunities and enables the production of such non-proprietary materials as acrylic, synthetic wood and styrene. The MDX-40A system allows integration with such design programs as Mastercam, EdgeCAM and SurfCam, and available options include a rotary fourth axis, which allows unattended, 360° milling, and a 3-D, scanning attachment for reverse engineering.
