Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA) has announced its VersaCAMM SP-i series of inkjet printer/cutters that includes the 30-in. SP-300i and the 54-in. SP-540i inkjet printer/cutters that feature enhancements over previous models include Roland Intelligent Pass Control™, a new heavy-duty, media-handling system and new VersaWorks 3.2 RIP software.
Roland Intelligent Pass Control overlaps and feathers consecutive passes and this causes VersaCAMM SP-i images to have smoother gradations and dense solid colors, in every print mode. It also increases productivity by allowing users to achieve outstanding image quality at higher print speeds, Roland says.
The VersaCAMM SP-i series heavy-duty, media-handling system is designed to provide stable media feeding through long print runs. The SP-300i handles rolls weighing up to 44 lbs. and the SP-540i accepts up to 66 lbs. An optional automated media feed and take-up system will facilitate unattended printing.
The SP-i series includes an integrated two-stage heater system which dries prints quickly even in high-speed mode.
Further, an automated maintenance system ensures trouble-free operation and , a new maintenance cover provides easy access to print heads for manual cleanings when needed. With the SP-i series, both 30-in. and 54-in. models come equipped with Ethernet connections.
VersaCAMM SP-i inkjets use Roland’s ECO-SOL MAX eco-solvent inks, which provide fast dry time, a wide gamut, uncoated media support and durability of up to three years outdoors without lamination.
Roland’s VersaWorks 3.2 RIP software is a true, Adobe PostScript 3 RIP, designed by Roland to ensure exceptional production output and ease of use. It incorporates Adobe’s CPSI 3018 engine for faster RIP processing, better color and smoother gradations.
VersaWorks can control up to four Roland devices, including printers, printer/cutters and cutters.
