Sandblasting a Corian Sign Face

At Festival Sign Service, Gainesville, FL, we specialize in creating sign systems, and have done so for nearly 15 years. A few years ago, personnel from Jacksonville, FL-based Integroup, Inc. contacted us to create signage for the luxury apartment complexes they were building throughout the southeastern US.

Usually, such projects involve sandblasted redwood, so we were excited when the company wanted to take a slightly different approach with its dimensional signs. With the help of Integroup art director Jeanie Fitzpatrick, we developed some design ideas for a sandblasted sign system using Corian acrylic-based, solid-surface material as the substrate.

These signs, we determined, would be mounted to a 1/4-in. Sintra
