That s Tom Drexler, at the back door. Tom started Tom Drexler Plumbing (Louisville, KY) in 1982, and, today, the business conducts both residential and commercial work with a fleet of 25 trucks, many of which Maggie Harlow’s SIGNARAMA Downtown (Louisville), decorated. She and her husband Brian own the franchise.
Maggie’s staff printed Tom’s photo on a Roland SolJet Pro II Ex Model SC-540 printer. She chose this printer because its durable, Eco-Sol inks don’t require outside venting. The SC-540 prints up to 1,440 x 1,440 -dpi with Roland’s variable droplet technology.
Maggie said “The Roland printer is a workhorse.”
The shop created the van’s various designs and graphics with SAi’s Flexi software. It used Roland’s ColorRIP to image the print on 3M’s Controltac graphics film; and cut the truck’s side letters from Avery vinyl. Both materials were obtained through Imager’s Supply (Louisville). It
The shop also produces digital prints on its Fujifilm Sericol Acuity flatbed printer.
SIGNARAMA is part of United Franchise Group (West Palm Beach, FL), which also owns the EmbroidMe, Billboard Connection, FranchiseMart and Plan Ahead Events franchise brands.
Ray Titus is the CEO of United Franchise Group and its affiliated companies. Jim Tatum is the president.
United Franchise Group recently inducted Maggie and Brian into Signarama’s Hall of Fame.
Maggie said the most difficult part of this signage job was helping Tom sort through his options. “He’s marketing oriented,” she said, “and had lots of ideas.”
