Science Gets a Sweet Ride

Dinosaurs! Insects! Magnets! The Science Museum of Virginia is taking its exhibits on the road with its outreach program, Science By-Van. The mobile museum travels to schools, festivals, special group events and more. If the amazing demonstrations don’t draw in the crowds, this colorful vehicle wrap might do the trick.

Laura Hughes and Frank Heller, staff artists at the museum, designed the wrap with MacroMedia Freehand, Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator, and good ol’ fashioned colored-pencil illustrations. Matthews Specialty Graphics (Greensboro, NC) used 3M-certified installers to wrap the van in IJ180C vinyl. They used 3M’s UV8519 overlaminate, and all edges and corners were sealed with 3M Graphics Market Center’s Primer 94.
