Enter the International Sign Contest

Signs of the Times is proud to announce the 40th International Sign Contest, open to all and accepting entries immediately.

Dating back to 1978, the International Sign Contest has been both a benchmark as well as a record of excellence in sign design and fabrication for four decades. However, sometimes even a grand tradition needs to be adjusted and modernized to keep up with the times. We’ve done that by combining a few established categories and also adding a couple of new ones.

Here are the revised categories:

1. Best Original Design by Sign Company – New!
2. Sign Systems
3. Commercial Monument Signs
4. Electric Monument/Freestanding Signs
5. Banners/Murals/Exhibit Graphics
6. Commercial Freestanding Signs
7. Electric Freestanding Signs
8. Commercial Building Signs
9. Electric Building/Awning Signs
10. Electronic Message Centers/Mixed Media Displays – New!

Two new categories of the contest are Best Original Design by a Sign Company and Electronic Message Centers/Mixed Media Displays. These new categories were added to reflect the changes in the kinds of signs companies are selling.

Best Original Design by a Sign Company is a category open to either commercial or electric signs. Developed to rule out signs designed by clients or design firms (though fabricated and installed by signshops), this category is intended to be a “leveler of the playing field,” giving small, commercial shops an equal chance against national, full service companies fabricating big electric signs.

Electronic Message Centers/Mixed Media Displays is a category intended to include the increase of EMCs, while at the same time considering displays that combine digital and other facets.Everyone is encouraged to enter their best projects from the previous 12 months, and with a maximum of 12 entries allowed, you can cover every category and even double up on a couple of your best! The entry fee is $10 per entry with a maximum of $75 for 8-12 entries.

The deadline for entry is January 26, 2018.

Please note: We will not be able to extend this deadline as the winners will be published in the March 2018 issue of Signs of the Times and also online, here at signsofthetimes.com.

Complete contest rules, as well as a simple, easy-to-use entry form, which will accept all images, descriptions and payment, can be found here.

Please direct any questions about these new categories, or any aspect of the contest to Mark.Kissling@stmediagroup.com.
