The One Club, an NYC-based, nonprofit organization that recognizes advertising-industry excellence, curated a traveling exhibit at NYC’s 34th St. Public Library. Design360 developed the graphics, which celebrate the legacy of David Ogilvy – hailed by many as “The Father of Advertising” – and San Francisco agency co-founders Rich Goodby and David Silverstein, among others.
The firm developed the exhibit’s graphics, which measure 9 x 9 ft. and 9 x 15 ft., using Photoshop and Illustrator software. The collage-style treatment of the One Club’s honorees, vivid color contrast and deemphasized text reflect the One Club’s desire to focus the exhibit on the individuals who’ve influenced the direction of advertising.
Visual Graphic Systems (VGS), Carlstadt, NJ, fabricated the graphics using a combination of graphics cut on Gerber translucent media with a Gerber enVision™ 750 30-in.-wide plotter and inkjet-printed with a Roland SolJet Pro III printer with eco-solvent inks. The graphics were either installed on integral library walls or on temporary, metal walls.
Jill Ayers, Design360’s creative director, said the tight schedule, and becoming familiar with the NYC Public Library system’s strict display guidelines, comprised key project challenges.
