Arguably more than any other type of enterprise, tattoo parlors demand compelling signage. Effective use of color, artwork and typography define the work done inside, so the sign outside must provide commensurate curb appeal. The owner of this Vienna-based studio hired Timber Signs (Ofterschwang, Germany) to fabricate an HDU masterpiece. Timber co-owners Manfred Didier and Marcus Goebels designed the original logo using Gerber Omega and Adobe Photoshop, and prepped it for CNC-router production using Gerber’s Artpath 3D-tooling software. The duo routed the DUNA-Corradini Corafoam® HDU panel and formed primary text on a Gerber Sabre 408 CNC router, sandblasted the components to add texture, and secured 3D appliques to the face using West System two-part epoxy. Didier V-carved the secondary text with Pfeil carving tools. Goebels decorated the sign acrylic-latex paint, 1Shot® lettering enamel and Norris 23.75k goldleaf.
