Summa Inc. (Seattle) is announcing upgrades to its SummaCut line of vinyl-cutting plotters. The “R” series features a new optical-positing (OPOS) contour-cutting alignment that reportedly offers improved accuracy, repetition and media handling. The new cutters also offer a redesigned cutting head that offers fully automated OPOS capabilities and the ability to cut beyond the machine’s pinch rollers which, according to the company, reduces waste. The cutters are available in 30-, 48-, 54- and 64-in. widths, and the three largest sizes include a stand and media basket (it’s an option for the 30-in. model).
