Visual Effects and Finishing Systems

Autodesk Inc. (San Rafael, CA) is releasing 2009 versions of its Inferno, Flame and Flint software for visual effects systems and its Smoke software finishing system.

New tools for Flame, Inferno and Flint include high-quality blur and glow tools, enhancements to the 3D tracking toolset for faster match moving, and auto-stabilization capabilities. Smoke features a new tree-based compositing workflow, called Batch FX, which marries Smoke's editorial timeline with the 3D compositing environment.

Also new is Extension 1 for Toxik 2008 software for digital compositing. Highlights include Pixel Expression Language, which allows compositors to quickly create and customize many of the most commonly applied effects.
