X-Rite (Grand Rapids, MI) is announcing its ColorTRUE ™ calibration app for Apple iOS and Google Android platforms. ColorTRUE creates a custom-display profile for iOS and Android mobile devices and can provide designers, prepress professionals and photographers the ability to calibrate and profile their tablet and mobile devices for accurate color matching. ColorTRUE includes a Create Profile tool and an Image Gallery viewer. It’s currently available as a free download on the Apple® App Store and Google® Play Store.
The profile applies to all images displayed through the ColorTRUE Image Gallery and provides your device with accurate color matching. X-Rite says tablets are increasingly important in sales, design and imaging-workflow processes, and to obtain accurate color on the mobile device is now as critical as it is on desktops. (Unlike laptop or desktop operating systems, iOS and Android operating systems do not have color-management capabilities. Each app applies color profiles independently.
ColorTRUE also comprises ambient-light compensation, print simulation, white-point selections (with rendering intents), ICC profiles (you can select a working color space) and a before-and-after toggle. ColorTRUE® calibration requires an X-Rite measurement device.
