It’s December, which, for many in the sign industry, means attending the annual United States Sign Council (USSC) Sign World Intl. tradeshow at the Atlantic City (NJ) Convention Center. Last year, the association moved the show up to October, but USSC has returned the show to its traditional, early-December timeframe.
Unfortunately, family commitments won’t allow me to attend Sign World for the first time in my 15-year ST tenure, but the display of this year’s USSC Sign Design Award winners will undoubtedly be one of the show floor’s highlights (the Bullpen, where pinstripers and traditional signmakers will demonstrate their skills, is certainly another).
Among more than 170 entries received, 13 earned first-place designations, with Creative Sign Designs’ (Tampa) illuminated monument for Tradition Center for Innovation earning Best of Show – some of you may remember it as an Electric Monument Signs category winner in the 2015 ST International Sign Contest (see ST, April 2015, page 74).
Congratulations to all of the victors – and, if you happen to see any winners on the Sign World Intl. floor, be sure to commend them for their achievement.
