3M (St. Paul, MN) is premiering the 3M Flexible Light Mat that can accommodate unique shapes and sizes. The low-voltage, thermally managed LED light source consumes as few as 5W per sq. ft. and, according to the company balances color and minimizes hot spots within an enclosed sign box. The 20-mil-thick mat weighs 0.18 lbs. per sq. ft. The mat fits slim light boxes, channel letters, special-effect lighting applications, curved surfaces and large applications. It can be used with the company’s flexible substrates, translucent graphics films, inks and graphic protection for backlit-sign solutions.
