American Sign Museum Points the Way

In honor of classic Burma-Shaved roadside ad campaigns, the American Sign Museum (Cincinnati) recently installed its own “sign verse” to direct visitors to the museum’s entrance. Museum founder/curator Tod Swormstedt wrote the signs: “Just 100 Yards More,” “You’re Almost There,” “It’s Worth the Wait,” “For the Photos You’ll Share,” and “American Sign Museum.”

Per Swormstedt, each panel was lettered in traditional white on a red background in accurate “Burma-Shave font” thanks to David Butler of Syracuse, IN. Tim Gorman, the museum’s go-to fabricator, engineered and installed the five signs.
