In decades past, advertisements for Oakley sunglasses portrayed perfectly fit and tan teens and twentysomethings clad in shades. However, today’s younger generation (aka the milennials) require a more stylish advertising message. Management at Halpern Eye Care, a Dover, DE-based company, wanted to promote its Oakley product line, and contracted Jeff Chudoff, owner of Arizona Design (Maple Shade, NJ), to create an icy-cool wrap for a Hummer H1 – a vehicle that grabs attention in its own right.
After perfecting the graphics with Adobe Photoshop and SA Intl.’s FlexiSign Pro, Chudoff based the wrap’s measurement on a Pro Vehicle Outlines template.
The shop produced the wrap on its Roland SolJet Pro III XC-540 with Avery’s MPI 1005 Supercast EZ Apply RS (with complementing, carbon-fiber material installed on the hood). Avery’s high-conformability, gloss-finish DOL 1460 overlaminate protects the wrap. Arizona Designs installed the wrap with Geek Wraps felt squeegees and variable-temperature heat guns. The Hummer’s passenger-side rear windows feature changeable panels, which enabled the customer to provide additional advertising messages. For the changeable panels, Arizona Design cut PVC panels and covered with Avery stainless steel-finish wrap vinyl, which was then covered with vinyl lettering.
