Ban on Skin-Bearing Ads in Greece?

Though “sex sells,” a campaign is underway to ban sexy billboards from Greek roadsides. Lawyer Athanasios Tsokos has filed a $15.9 million compensation claim after his son was killed in a car accident Tsokos says was caused by provocative advertising. He says too many drivers’ attention is diverted attention from the road by sexy ads promoting cigarettes, perfume and plenty more.

British newspaper the Guardian quoted an Athens traffic official who said 10% of accidents are caused by roadside billboards. Many of these ads are thought to be illegally posted. Athens alone has an estimated 15,000 illegal billboards, many of which are poorly erected.
