After standing nearly vacant for a decade, the Pegasus Park business campus in Dallas, TX is now a blossoming biotech and nonprofit hub. Symbolizing that transformation is a revitalized sign that crowns an 18-story office tower and depicts the campus’ namesake.

The Pegasus, crafted as a neon sign more than 85 years ago, is now outfitted with programmable LED lighting courtesy of FSGS (Lewisville, TX). Installation, and the epic hoist that preceded it, were separate challenges. See how FSGS surmounted them in the photos that follow.

This Pegasus sign is one of three originals made for Dallas’ Magnolia Oil Co. in 1934. Two of the once-neon icons have been revitalized in programmable LED lighting by FSGS. Here, one is about to be hoisted to the top of an 18-story office tower in Pegasus Park Campus.

Pegasus is nearly in place, with installers from FSGS positioned on a scaffold, ready to attach the winged horse to the building.

An aluminum ring also outfitted with programmable LEDs, begins its ascent.

The LED ring has reached the top with Pegasus already installed.

FSGS workers first removed the neon version of the sign from the building. Here they are preparing the sign to be lowered for retrofitting.

The programmable LED lighting allows for changes to any color, to celebrate holidays or other events and causes.

Pegasus in his original “neon glow,” closely approximated by the LEDs, with the ring displaying an also-classic, neon-like cool blue.

This is how residents and visitors to Pegasus Park Campus will view and enjoy the iconic Pegasus sign for years to come.
