Give Your South-Pawed Shop Hands a Slap on the Back

4 is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, celebrating America’s favorite cookie, so bring some into the shop and office for everyone! We all owe Ruth Graves Wakefield a debt of gratitude for inventing — by accident — this classic in 1937 at the Toll House Inn.

13 International Left-Handers Day is observed on AUGUST 13. Only about 10% of the population is left-handed, sources say, but did you know four of the last seven US Presidents — Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and Obama — have been left-handed?

20 and the third Saturday in August annually mark World Honey Bee Day. Started in the US as National Honey Bee Day in 2009, the day grew rapidly, bringing awareness to the benefits and environmental needs of honey bees, without which many flowering plants would not bear fruit or reproduce.

26 Every dog has its day. Every year, they all do on AUGUST 26 with National Dog Day. Founded in 2004, the celebration provides an excuse to spoil your dog with an extra treat or new toy, or the reason to visit a shelter and consider adopting a dog in need of a home.
