Hexacomb (Buffalo Grove, IL) is unveiling Falconwood™, a wood alternative for displays, exhibits and other, sign-related projects. According to the company, it replicates the appearance and texture of wood, but costs less and is 75% lighter. Falconwood is available in cherry or birch as stock finishes, with maple and black walnut as optional colors. The substrate reportedly offers strong reflection strength, and is a viable alternative to metal and foam for semi-permanent signs and displays. The 4-in.-thick, 4-ft.-wide material may be direct-printed, and die- and router-cut. Its paper-based construction allows recycling as corrugated waste.
