Hollywood Sign to Get a Makeover for 100th Birthday

The Hollywood Sign is turning 100, and it’s getting a facelift for its birthday.

The 45-ft. letters will be cleaned and repainted over the next two months in an effort that will require about 250 gallons of paint and primer, The Guardian writes.

The sign’s most recent adjustment was an attempt to make the letters read “Rams House” in tribute to the Los Angeles football team’s Super Bowl win, but this is the first time in a decade that the sign will be repainted. Sherwin-Williams is partnering with the Hollywood Sign Trust to repaint the icon in an “extra white” finish, the article says.

Anyone who wants to follow the action live can do so via the sign’s 24-hour webcam. It’ll be like watching paint dry, but literally.
