HP Introduces large-format printers

Hewlett-Packard Co. (Palo Alto, CA) announced additions to its HP Scitex and HP Designjet line that includes the 126-in.-wide HP Scitex LX800 (HP’s largest, most productive latex-ink device to date) and the 104-in.-wide HP Scitex LX600. Both printers apply HP’s latex inks.
Also new are the HP Scitex FB500, UV-cure, flatbed printer and HP Scitex TJ8600 printer that images with HP’s new HP TJ210 Scitex inks. For small shops, HP offers its 44-in.-wide, Designjet Z5200 PostScript® printer.
The LX800 features roll-to-freefall, roll-to-collector and dual-roll (up to two 60-in.-wide rolls) capabilities. It produces 1,200-dpi resolution at production speeds up to 947 sq. ft./hr. for outdoor billboards, and 484 sq. ft./hr. for indoor applications.
The HP Scitex FB500, a UV-cure, flatbed printer (with optional white ink), images on media up to 64- in.-wide. It allows remote monitoring via the HP Embedded Web Server and an onboard camera.
HP’s newest TJ-series UV printer, the HP Scitex TJ8600 that images with HP’s new HP TJ210 Scitex Inks, was designed for high-volume sign and display shops. It features full- and selective-gloss print modes and supports an multiple applications, which include most fleet graphics and POP applications. Also, an upgrade kit – including hardware, software, onsite installation and training – is available for existing owners of HP Scitex TJ8500/8550 printers.
The TJ210 inks, compared to HP TJ200 Scitex inks, feature improved flexibility and reduced odor, the company states.
The Designjet Z5200 PostScript® printer, for low-volume shops interested in entering the large-format market, is suitable for numerous applications. Its Instant Printing Pro software features fast file preparation and automates production tasks.
Additionally, HP has expanded its Print Care portfolio to support the HP Indigo 3550 as well as the 5500, 7000 and 7500 digital presses. It also introduced Print Care for the HP Scitex FB500, LX800 and LX600 models. Print Care features include enhanced diagnostics and guidance tools, remote assistance and production information.
