Editor's Note

It’s Time to Look Ahead

WHAT ARE YOU hoping to accomplish this year — personally, professionally or otherwise? This issue’s Buzz Session with the Brain Squad (see page 46) includes our survey question, “What is your #1 New Year’s resolution for 2022?” To allow for a wide variety of responses, six options plus “other” were offered, as well as “I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions,” which actually led with 26%. I guess that tells us something right there…

In second place with 20%, “Put in less time at work/more with family” crushed its opposite choice, “Put in more time at work” with, I’m happy to report, 0%. Next, “Try something new” at 18% just edged “Start a good habit (exercise, diet)” at 17%, while its opposite choice, “Stop a bad habit (smoking, reality TV),” also registered 0%, so go ahead and enjoy Season 7,846 of Survivor!

Finally, 9% resolved to meet a financial goal, and the 10% “other” responses included improving in general, being positive and delegating responsibilities more.

Setting goals is important, whether you do this in January (see page 46), at other times, or, as a handful Brain Squad members reported, all the time. To help, we’ve got some hints on goal-setting in our Calendar/Manager’s To-Do List (see page 16). As the year progresses, let us know how your resolutions and goals are panning out at editor@signsofthetimes.com.

I’ll be smoking and watching Survivor — haha.
