November 2020 Letter to the Editor

Alex Artibee, sales manager for ESCO Manufacturing (Watertown, SD), sent the following message after reading Editor-in-Chief Robin Donovan’s “From the Editor” column from our October 2020 issue

I can honestly say that the amount of “From the Editor” articles I have read can easily be counted on one hand, and I can’t remember the last time I did. However, today I read yours. It’s been a Monday even by Monday standards, and it was one of those days where I was wondering when I would be able to stop. Between business-growth strategies; how to capitalize on business resurgence; managing reduced capacity thanks to COVID and the fact we are in a small town; and trying to help my wife with our three kids (ages two, four and six) over my hour-lunch break – one of which just started kindergarten via remote learning … we are tired. Everyone is tired.

But, then I read your article. And I found an encouraging truth in the fact that I’m not alone. None of us are. While individual circumstances vary and many people have situations far worse that are compounded even more so by natural disasters of Hollywood proportions, we are surrounded by others who feel the same way, wondering when can we get off the ride for a bit and just breathe.
