Lincoln Electric to Use Wind Power

Lincoln Electric (Cleveland) has built a wind tower on the grounds of its headquarters and manufacturing campus in Euclid, just east of Cleveland. The 443-ft. tower’s (roughly equal to a 45-story building) propeller has a blade-tip speed of 165 mph. Approximately 7,000 hours were devoted to tower construction; the finished structure is expected to save the company up to $500,000 in annual energy costs.

The project is the outgrowth of a partnership between Lincoln Electric and the Great Lakes Energy Development Task Force, which aims to create a market for renewable energy in Northeast Ohio.
