Low-Flammability Plastic

Sheffield Plastics Inc. (Sheffield, MA) is debuting Makrolon® LF, a flame-resistant polycarbonate (PC) sheet that's listed under the UL® 94 V-0 guidelines and meets the FAR 25.283 A and B flammability requirements.

The rigid plastic may be die-cut, punched and sheared, and it offers UV stability, enhanced ductility, less brittleness and impact strength that, according to the company, exceeds float glass or acrylic. Because of its flame resistance, the material is suitable for applications that require flame-inhibiting PC, such as electronic enclosures and thermoformed materials.
